Answers
He made his escape by jumping out of a window and jumping into a waiting car.
She took the key out of her pocket and put it in the lock.
He took the book from the shelf and put it into his bag.
He drove past me without stopping and drove off towards the centre of town.
I went upto him and asked him the best way to get out of town.

[errata : In question no. 5 the answer would be none of these since the right answer is not posted as one of the options.It is a typo error and I apologize for the same]

    A doubt in the last one... cant we use "to" instead of "upto" ?

    i hav a doubt in 4th qstn..i hav chosen towards n over,imean he drove towards me without stopping and drove off over centre of town.y cant it b correct? can u explain mam?

  7. Dear Anonymous,

    The preposition over is used when we indicate surface and movement.
    eg. The water is all over the table.
    You cross an over bridge.
    Using the preposition over would lead to an absurd sentence hence cannot be the answer.
