  1. The mob vandalized property during protest. [ crowd has a positive connotation while mob has a negative connotation]
  2. The crew is in the cabin. [ here the collective noun refers to a collective action and hence takes a singular verb]
  3. The crew are searching every nook and cranny of the ship. [ here the collective noun refers to a  split action hence takes a plural verb]
  4. The committee has reserved its verdict [ collective action hence singular verb]
  5. The committee were divided among themselves.[split action hence plural verb]

    Hello Swapnila Mam,
    I also want the roots of the word because i tried to find out the root but m not able to so please send me the words with their roots so that i can learn the words easily please mam.

    Dear Harshu,

    You can go through V102 a book on grammar that has been given to you.Also try and make a template using the handout that are solved in the class.

    Also try and solve these quizes on grammar and vocab on regular basis.

    respected madam,

    i wud lik to know y cant i use "was" for the 5th statement.
    also for the 3rd statement y cant i use "is" instead of "are" coz the statement while reading dont sound gud
